Given Indian Rocks Christian's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 280th, while Universal Academy is ranked 572nd), the result on Friday wasn't entirely unexpected.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Indian Rocks Christian to victory, but perhaps none more so than Malia Stevens, who scored 31 points. The game was Stevens' third in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Kayleigh Atkinson, who scored 18 points.
Indian Rocks Christian's victory bumped their record up to 3-1. As for Universal Academy, they bumped their record down to 1-4 with that defeat, which was their third straight on the road.
Indian Rocks Christian will be playing at home against St. Petersburg at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Hopefully St. Petersburg focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 14 on Thursday. Universal Academy will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against Sports Leadership & Management at 6:30 p.m. on December 15th.
