Arlington hasn't had much luck against Malcolm recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Eagles will venture away from home to face off against the Clippers at 4:30 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Arlington hadn't beaten Fort Calhoun on the road since March 30, 2023 but that history sure didn't bother them on Tuesday. The Eagles blew past the Pioneers 11-5.
Liam Shearer was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over six innings pitched. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up a single earned run in four consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two doubles and one RBI. Those two doubles gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Luke Ott, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three runs and two RBI. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Burke Quinn, who went 1-for-3 with two runs and two RBI.
Meanwhile, Malcolm waltzed into their matchup on Tuesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They were the clear victors by a 14-1 margin over the Orangemen.
Like Arlington, Malcolm also got a great game from a two-way player: Chase Smith. He didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. Smith was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and one double. That home run marked the first that he has launched this season.
In other batting news, Nolan Duzik was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That home run was his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Preston Kucera, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.
Malcolm always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .613. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive contests.
Arlington's record is now 9-6. As for Malcolm, their record now sits at 12-4.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Friday as neither team is afraid to steal. Arlington has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.4 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Malcolm struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 3.8 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Arlington suffered a grim 7-0 defeat to Malcolm in their previous matchup back in April of 2025. Can the Eagles avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
