The Rocky Mountain Lobos were the 69-62 winner over the Chaparral Wolverines when they last played one another back in December of 2022, but their luck changed this time around. Rocky Mountain was beaten by Chaparral 73-46 on Wednesday. Rocky Mountain has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Rocky Mountain's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Daniel Mbadinga-nzamba, who scored 13 points along with 5 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Ryan Van alsburg, who scored 14 points along with 8 rebounds.
Even though they lost, Rocky Mountain were working as a unit and finished the game with 11 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Chaparral only racked up 24.
Chaparral was led to victory by Christian Williams and Gavin Carter. Williams scored 16 points along with 8 rebounds and 6 assists, while Carter scored 23 points along with 5 assists and 4 steals. The contest was Carter's sixth in a row with at least ten points. Luke Howery was another key contributor, scoring 7 points along with 8 rebounds and 7 assists.
Rocky Mountain's loss dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Chaparral, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 4-2 record this season.
Rocky Mountain will face off against Air Academy at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Air Academy focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 15 on Wednesday. As for Chaparral, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Valor Christian at 7:00 p.m. Valor Christian is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt want to keep things rolling.
