The Holy Family Tigers will head out to take on the Longmont Trojans at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Holy Family is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last seven games.
Holy Family is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They put the hurt on Skyline with a sharp 17-6 win on Monday. The result was nothing new for the Tigers, who have now won ten games by six runs or more so far this season.
Brendan Ward looked comfortable as he struck out six batters over four innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off four hits.
On the hitting side, Dane Young was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Eddie Hill, who went 2-for-4 with three runs, four RBI, and one stolen base.
Holy Family always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .629. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Skyline only posted an OBP of .370.
Meanwhile, Longmont can bid farewell to their six-game losing streak thanks to their game on Saturday. They had just enough and edged out Northfield 4-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Trojans have posted since March 8th.
Longmont secured the win behind a pair of hitters. One of them was Cooper Magley, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one run. Logan Etcheverry was another, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.
Holy Family's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-6. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.7 runs over those games. As for Longmont, their record now sits at 9-11.
Longmont's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Holy Family has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .436. It's a different story for Longmont, though, as they've only averaged .351. Will they be able to contain Holy Family's hitters?
Holy Family came out on top in a nail-biter against Longmont in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, sneaking past 2-1. Do the Tigers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Trojans turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
