The Ellington Knights and the Granby Memorial Bears will face off at 6:45 p.m. on February 12th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Ellington comes in on 12 and Granby Memorial on seven.
Bolton typically has all the answers at home, but on Wednesday Ellington proved too difficult a challenge. They strolled past the Bulldogs with points to spare, taking the game 43-28. Given Ellington's advantage in MaxPreps' Connecticut basketball rankings (they are ranked 18th, while Bolton is ranked 63rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, a well-balanced attack led Granby Memorial over Bolton in every quarter on their way to victory on Thursday. Granby Memorial took down Bolton 54-39.
Ellington's victory was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 16-3. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 50.7 points per game. As for Granby Memorial, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine matches, which provided a nice bump to their 15-4 record this season.
Ellington strolled past Granby Memorial when the teams last played back in December of 2023 by a score of 47-29. Will Ellington repeat their success, or does Granby Memorial have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
