The Vero Beach Indians won the last time they faced the Sebastian River Sharks, and things went their way on Thursday too. Vero Beach enjoyed a cozy 58-44 win over the Sharks. The win made it back-to-back wins for Vero Beach.
Vero Beach's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Emmanuel Guirand, who scored ten points along with five assists and four steals. Guirand is crushing the steal category: he's posted at least two every time he's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Jeremia Sanders, who scored 11 points along with seven rebounds and two steals.
Several Sharks players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Keenan Matthews, who scored 13 points. Another player making a difference was Amarion Smith, who scored 12 points.
Sebastian River struggled to work together and finished the game with only three assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Vero Beach racked up 11 assists.
Vero Beach has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 9-9 record this season. As for Sebastian River, they dropped their record down to 8-9 with that defeat, which was their third straight at home.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Vero Beach will take on the Pirates at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. St. Edward's will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Florida Rankings (they are ranked 624th, while the Indians are ranked 265th). As for Sebastian River, their homestand continues as they prepare to take on the Bears at 7:00 p.m. on January 23rd.
