The Calhoun Academy Cavaliers lost against the Orangeburg Prep Indians back in January, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. Calhoun Academy fell 52-42 to Orangeburg Prep. Calhoun Academy has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Calhoun Academy's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Hunter Thornburg, who scored 14 points along with six rebounds and three steals, and Chase Strickland who scored 12 points along with six rebounds and two blocks. Thornburg continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last five games he's played. Another player making a difference was Colt Layton, who scored six points along with six assists and five rebounds.
Calhoun Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 13-10. As for Orangeburg Prep, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 16-7.
Calhoun Academy won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Curtis Baptist at 7:30 p.m. on February 9th. Curtis Baptist is coming into the matchup with nine straight wins on the road, meaning Calhoun Academy will have to defend against a team hungry for a victory. As for Orangeburg Prep, they will face off against Dorchester Academy at 7:25 p.m. on Monday.
