The Flagler Panthers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their fourth straight loss. They took a 44-36 hit to the loss column at the hands of Idalia. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Flagler in their matchups with Idalia: they've now lost seven in a row.
Despite the loss, Flagler still got an impressive performance from Jaylie Stone, who scored 17 points along with five rebounds and five steals. Stone hasn't dropped below two steals for five straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Sydnie Berry, who scored four points along with three steals.
Leading Idalia to victory were Jaylyn Kechter and Krista Wieser. Kechter scored 13 points along with six rebounds and three steals, while Wieser dropped a double-double on 15 points and 11 steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Wieser has scored all season. Addison Richards was another key contributor, scoring six points along with two steals.
Flagler's loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 5-6. As for Idalia, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matches, which provided a nice bump to their 9-3 record this season.
Flagler will be playing at home against Burlington at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Burlington knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past six contests -- so hopefully Flagler likes a good challenge. As for Idalia, they will head out on the road to take on Arickaree at 3:00 p.m. on Friday. Arickaree's defense has only allowed 29.9 points per game this season, so Idalia's offense will have their work cut out for them.
