After a string of three wins, the Wilmington Wildcats's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They fell 47-40 to Coal City. Wilmington was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Coalers apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in December of 2023.
Wilmington lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Reid Juster, who scored 15 points along with five rebounds. Ryan Nelson was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with eight rebounds.
Wilmington struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only four offensive rebounds. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Wilmington's defeat dropped their record down to 12-7. As for Coal City, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 9-12.
Coincidentally, both teams will both be playing Lisle the next time they take the court. Coal City will host Lisle at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, while Wilmington will host them at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
