The Noxon Red Devils will square off against the Lincoln Lynx at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams are coming into the game red-hot, with Noxon sitting on three straight wins and Lincoln on six.
Noxon is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They claimed a resounding 70-14 victory over Alberton. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest win of the season.
Meanwhile, while Lincoln put up plenty of points on Friday, the same can't be said for Heart Butte. The Lynx simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Warriors 82-0. Considering the Lynx have won five contests by more than 32 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Lincoln's win came from a few key players Noxon will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Austen Salber, who rushed for 23 yards and two touchdowns, and also threw for 35 yards and one TD. An impressive showing, but he really ramped things up playing D: he forced two fumbles, made two total tackles, and defended one pass in addition to snagging three interceptionstwo of which were returned for touchdowns. Kayden Riddle got in on the action too, returning a kick for a touchdown.
Lincoln didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. In fact, those interceptions all came courtesy of defensive juggernaut Salber. Lincoln got some further help from Hayden Baker: he picked up a sack, forced two fumbles, and made two total tackles.
Special teams played a big role in the game for Lincoln, adding 16 points to the final score. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Riddle, who ran a kickoff back for a touchdown.
Noxon's victory bumped their record up to 3-1. As for Lincoln, their win bumped their record up to 6-1.
Noxon skirted past Lincoln 55-53 in their previous meeting back in September of 2024. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Riddle, who rushed for 204 yards and three scores on only 12 carries, and also threw for 178 yards and a pair of TDs. Now that he's got a second chance to win this matchup, will the Red Devils still be able to contain Riddle? Check MaxPreps.com after the match to find out.
