The Astoria/VIT Rebels will be playing in front of their home fans against the Beardstown Tigers at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Hopefully Astoria/VIT focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 17 on Wednesday.
Last Wednesday, Astoria/VIT was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 43-37 to Farmington.
Despite their loss, Astoria/VIT saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. KATE STAMBAUGH, who scored 14 points along with 9 rebounds and 4 steals, was perhaps the best of all. Another player making a difference was TOMMI GORSUCH, who scored 13 points along with 3 steals.
Beardstown has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five matchups by 21 points or more this season. They took their match on the road on Friday with ease, bagging a 53-17 win over North Greene.
Astoria/VIT's loss dropped their record down to 2-4. As for Beardstown, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 7-4 record this season.
