Leanna Bourdage made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out nine batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in May of 2024. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with three stolen bases and two runs.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Madisyn Gillins, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two RBI, one run, and one double.
Meanwhile, Deltona got themselves on the board against Astronaut on Wednesday, but Astronaut never followed suit. They blew past the War Eagles 15-0. Considering the Wolves have won seven matches by more than five runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.
Tessa Guenette looked comfortable as she pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Deltona got a massive performance out of Jaylene Mieres, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, three RBI, and one triple. Another player making a difference was Sophia Weinrich, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, two doubles, and one RBI.
Deltona always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .645. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Deltona pushed their record up to 14-3 with the win, which was their ninth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.1 runs on average over those games. As for Gainesville, their record is now 14-7.
Everything went Gainesville's way against Deltona in their previous meeting back in May of 2024, as Gainesville made off with a 12-1 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Hurricanes since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
