The Monroe Hornets will challenge the Clermont Northeastern Rockets at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Monroe will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each matchup than the last.
Monroe was handed a seven-run loss in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Monday. They had just enough and edged out Chaminade Julienne Catholic 6-5. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Hornets as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.
Aubri Vandeventer made a splash no matter where she played. She struck out seven batters over seven innings while giving up five earned runs off ten hits. Vandeventer was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jadyn Harp, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. What's more, she posted two RBI, the most she's had since back in April.
Meanwhile, Clermont Northeastern made easy work of Felicity-Franklin on Wednesday and carried off a 19-1 victory. The Rockets might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven contests by six runs or more this season.
Like Monroe, Clermont Northeastern also got a great game from a two-way player: Jenna Brown. On the mound, she tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Brown was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with five runs, three RBI, and two doubles. She has been hot recently, having posted three or more RBI the last three times she's played.
In other batting news, Bella Wilson was incredible, going 3-for-4 with three runs, four RBI, and one triple. Addisyn Baker was another key player, going 2-for-5 with three RBI, one run, and one double.
Clermont Northeastern always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .564. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Monroe's win bumped their record up to 6-11. As for Clermont Northeastern, their victory bumped their record up to 9-10.
