The Anclote Sharks's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their sixth straight loss. They were beaten by Gulf 67-28. Anclote has struggled against Gulf recently, as their contest on Wednesday was their third consecutive lost matchup.
Anclote's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Peyton Vega, who scored seven points. The team also got some help courtesy of Mekhi Brown, who scored six points.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Gulf to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jaydn Wood, who scored 16 points along with six rebounds and four steals. Carlos Domenech was another key contributor, scoring 16 points.
Anclote bumped their record down to 1-8 with that defeat, which was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season. As for Gulf, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 6-12.
Anclote will head out on the road to face off against Dunedin at 7:45 p.m. on Friday. Dunedin comes in still looking for their first win of the season. As for Gulf, they will be playing at home against IMG Academy Silver at 7:45 p.m. on Monday.
