Football Recap: England Drops Highest Score of Season Against Hazen

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask England). They strolled past the Hazen Hornets with points to spare on Friday, taking the game 40-26. This was payback for the Lions, who suffered a 24-14 loss the last time these two teams met.

England's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jordan Palmer, who threw for 280 yards and five touchdowns while completing 76.2% of his passes. The dominant performance also gave Palmer a new career-high in rushing yards (19). England's leading receiver Jayquan Mays was Palmer's top target yet again, picking up 130 receiving yards and a pair of TDs.

With the win, England broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 2-3. As for Hazen, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-4.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. England will venture away from home to square off against Baptist Prep at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Hazen, they will head out to face off against Poyen at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Hornets will be up against the Indians' rather soft defense (which has allowed 37.8 points per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
