The Avalon Lancers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Monday after their third straight loss. They took a 71-62 hit to the loss column at the hands of Newport Christian. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
When it comes to explaining why Avalon lost, one person who can't be blamed is Darren Hall. Despite the final result, he scored 21 points along with seven rebounds and three steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Hall has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Jacob Mello, who scored 12 points.
Avalon's defeat was their third straight at home, which bumped their record down to 0-3. As for Newport Christian, they now have a winning record of 2-1.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Avalon's homestand continues as they prepare to take on Norwalk at 12:00 p.m. on December 21st. Newport Christian will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Pacific Baptist at 4:30 p.m. on January 8, 2024.
