The Buffalo Bison's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their third straight defeat. They took a 71-61 hit to the loss column at the hands of Wayne. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Asher Flanery and Jackson Mallett certainly did their best on Saturday to avoid the loss. Flanery scored 19 points along with five rebounds, while Mallett scored 16 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Nicholoas Pitchford, who scored nine points.
It was another big night for Isaac Meddings, who went 6 for 10 from beyond the arc en route to 33 points and 3 assists for Wayne. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Meddings has scored all season. Ronnie Staley was another key contributor, scoring 20 points.
Buffalo now has a losing record at 8-9. As for Wayne, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 8-10.
Buffalo will be playing at home against St. Joseph Central at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in West Virginia (St. Joseph Central is ranked 60th, while Buffalo is ranked 62nd). Wayne is on the road again on Monday and plays Sissonville at 7:00 p.m. on February 12th. Wayne knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past four matchups -- so hopefully Sissonville likes a good challenge.
