The Sam Houston Hurricanes will face off against the Pieper Warriors at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Sam Houston will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings (they are ranked 704th, while Pieper is ranked 124th).
After a string of five wins, Sam Houston's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They were dealt a 52-21 defeat at the hands of Alamo Heights.
The losing side was boosted by Amir Calhoun, who threw for 200 yards and two touchdowns, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground.
Meanwhile, Pieper waltzed into Friday's match with seven straight wins but they left with eight. They came out on top against Liberty Hill by a score of 33-23.
Brady Hopper was on fire: he rushed for 121 yards and four touchdowns on only 12 carries. The team also got some help courtesy of Jake South, who threw for 243 yards and three touchdowns.
Alamo Heights' victory bumped their season record to 10-0 while Sam Houston's loss dropped theirs to 7-3.
