The Rancocas Valley Red Devils will challenge the Shawnee Renegades at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Rancocas Valley took a loss when they played away from home on Monday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Wednesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 5-3 win over Bridgewater-Raritan.
Matt Korbich looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over four innings pitched.
On the hitting side, Rancocas Valley let Jake Bartletta and Jaylen Alvarez run wild. Bartletta went 2-for-3 with one run and one double, while Alvarez got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two RBI, one run, and one double. That's the most RBI Alvarez has posted over his last 11 contests.
Shawnee came out on top against Haddonfield on Wednesday thanks in part to the team's impressive six-run third inning. The Renegades took their game against the Bulldawgs 7-2. The match marked the Renegades' most dominant victory of the season so far.
Drew Tenet tossed a big game, tossing six innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. He is becoming a predictor of Shawnee's success: when he allows at most two earned runs the team is 4-1 (and 1-3 when he doesn't).
At the plate, Shawnee saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Chris Ahrens, who went 2-for-4 with one run and one double. That double marked the first that Ahrens has hit this season. Kayden Maybury was another, going 1-for-3 with three RBI, one run, and one double.
Shawnee's win ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 5-4. As for Rancocas Valley, the victory got them back to even at 6-6.
Rancocas Valley came up short against Shawnee when the teams last played back in May of 2024, falling 5-1. Can the Red Devils avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
