Basketball Recap: Metro-East Lutheran's Luck Changes for the Better on Monday

Metro-East Lutheran can bid farewell to their eight-game losing streak thanks to their game on Monday. They slipped by the North Greene Spartans 29-28. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Knights also won the last time the pair played back in January of 2024.

Leading Metro-East Lutheran to victory were Leeah Watson and Isabelle McLeod. Watson posted 12 points and eight boards, while McLeod scored seven points along with 17 rebounds and three blocks. Those 12 points gave Watson a new career-high.

Metro-East Lutheran smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive rebounds. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their offensive board total in three consecutive matches.

Metro-East Lutheran's victory ended a five-game drought on the road and puts them at 2-14. As for North Greene, they dropped their record down to 3-11 with the defeat, which was their fourth straight at home.

Metro-East Lutheran didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 54-21 loss against West Central co-op [Winchester-Bluffs] on the 14th. North Greene has also already played their next contest, a 52-16 defeat against New Berlin/Franklin/Waverly on the 15th.
