VAN NUYS, CALIFORNIA, June 24, 2009 - - After three-years of 8-man football, Montclair College Preparatory School located in Van Nuys, California is coming back to 11-man football for the fall 2009 varsity football season.
Montclair Prep will play in the Alpha League; their first game is Sept. 11 at 7pm against Frazier Mountain. Montclair will play their home games at Pierce College. The first home game is Sept. 18, at 7pm.
The Montclair Prep Mounties are lead by long time head coach George Giannini. Giannini is one of California’s most winning high school football coaches with more than 300 wins. Giannini won (4) CIF Championships, 1976, 1990, 1992, and 1994. He was in the CIF Championship finals (4) times as a runner up in, 1975, 1977, 2000, and 2001.
Montclair Prep is the oldest private, co-educational, secondary school in the San Fernando Valley, and was founded in 1956 by Dr. Vernon E. Simpson. Students are challenged by studies that cover the complete spectrum of knowledge, ranging from computer science, english, humanities, psychology, mathematics, science, literature, poetry, foreign language, and a variety of aspects in the social sciences. Montclair’s curriculum meets, or exceeds, the UC a-g requirements, while also offering electives in the fields of fine arts, mathematics, lab science and social studies. Mark Simpson is the current President. Montclair has a student body of 550 students grades 6-12.
