The Central Lions put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. In a tight matchup that could have gone either way, they made off with a 35-34 win over Heritage. Given Central's advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia football rankings (they are ranked 57th, while Heritage is ranked 203rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Leading Central to victory were Jr Harris and Jonaz Walton. Harris threw for 249 yards and three touchdowns while completing 80% of his passes, while Walton rushed for 150 yards and two touchdowns. Avery Tanner also deserves a shout-out for his two touchdowns.
Heritage's lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Brady Chandler, who threw for 277 yards and two touchdowns while completing 72.7% of his passes. Cody Bryan was another key contributor, picking up 115 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Central's win was their sixth straight on the road (dating back to last season), which pushed their record up to 10-0. As for Heritage, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 6-4.
Central will take on Hapeville Charter at 7:30 p.m. on November 11th. Hopefully Hapeville Charter focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up four on Thursday. As for Heritage, they will head out on the road to face off against Westminster at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday.
