The Cotulla Cowboys's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their sixth straight loss. They had to suffer through a rough 100-57 loss at the hands of Crystal City. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Cotulla in their matchups with Crystal City: they've now lost five in a row.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Crystal City to victory, but perhaps none more so than Eli Mata, who scored 20 points along with eight steals and seven rebounds. Mata hasn't dropped below 15points for three straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Christopher Mena, who scored 23 points along with six assists and six rebounds.
Cotulla has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost eight of their last nine games, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-12 record this season. As for Crystal City, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 15-11.
Cotulla will look to defend their home court on Friday against Dilley at 7:30 p.m. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Texas (Dilley is ranked 1469th, while Cotulla is ranked 1488th). As for Crystal City, they will head out on the road to square off against Lytle at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. Lytle will be looking to keep their four-game home win streak alive.
