Basketball Game Preview: Colton-Pierrepont Colts vs. Salmon River Shamrocks

After both having extra time off, the Colton-Pierrepont Colts and the Salmon River Shamrocks will dust off their jerseys to face off against one another at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Colton-Pierrepont has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.

Colton-Pierrepont is headed into the matchup after thoroughly thrashing Norwood-Norfolk: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Colton-Pierrepont blew Norwood-Norfolk out of the water with a 52-17 final score. The Colts have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won three contests by 29 points or more this season.

It was another big night for Cody Trimm, who went 6 for 15 on his way to 18 points and three steals. He has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last four times he's played. Tristin Thomas was another key player, putting up 13 points and five rebounds.

Colton-Pierrepont was working as a unit and finished the game with 13 assists. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their assist total in three consecutive games.

Meanwhile, Salmon River was not able to break out of their rough patch two weeks ago as the team picked up their 15th straight defeat dating back to last season. They were outmatched by St. Lawrence Central and fell 65-16. The Shamrocks were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 48-5.

Colton-Pierrepont's victory bumped their record up to 4-2. As for Salmon River, their loss dropped their record down to 0-2.
