The O'Fallon Panthers are taking a road trip to face off against the Carbondale Terriers at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
O'Fallon barely beat Alton the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Panthers put the hurt on the Redbirds with a sharp 13-2 win on Thursday. The game was the first time the Panthers have beaten the Redbirds on their field since March 29, 2022.
O'Fallon got a massive performance out of Ella Klino, who went 4-for-5 with four runs, two doubles, and one stolen base. That's the most doubles Klino has posted since back in April of 2024. Samantha Espiritu also deserves some recognition as she got her first hit of the season.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: O'Fallon kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 18 hits. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their hit total in three consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Carbondale can bid farewell to their five-game losing streak thanks to their game on Monday. They walked away with a 6-1 victory over Johnston City.
Lauren Lehman spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on six hits and racked up seven Ks.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Jasmine Martin, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with two runs, one double, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Anniston Thompson, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
O'Fallon's record is now 8-11. As for Carbondale, their record now sits at 6-8.
O'Fallon suffered a grim 18-7 defeat to Carbondale when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Can the Panthers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
