North Kingstown hasn't had much luck against Pilgrim recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Skippers will look to take advantage of their home field for the first time this season as they take on the Patriots at 5:00 p.m. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
North Kingstown is coming home in high spirits after they had to open their season on the road against East Greenwich. The Skippers never let the Avengers get on the board and left with a 7-0 victory on Tuesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win the Skippers have posted against the Avengers since March 30, 2016.
Not much got past Gianna Amedeo, who gave up just four hits and racked up ten Ks to keep East Greenwich off the board.
At the plate, North Kingstown let Gabby Peralta and Mia D'Andrea run wild. Peralta went 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one double, while D'Andrea went 2-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. Rosemarie Hayward was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 3-for-4.
North Kingstown was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .382. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as East Greenwich only posted a batting average of .192.
Meanwhile, Pilgrim gave up the first runs on Wednesday, but they didn't let that get them down. They came out on top against Waterford by a score of 6-2.
Gretchen Dombeck spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on seven hits and racked up six Ks.
On the hitting side, Madison Tuirok was incredible, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 3-for-4. The team also got some help courtesy of Marin Prest, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-3.
North Kingstown skirted past Pilgrim 2-1 in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Do the Skippers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Patriots turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
