The Maryvale Prep Matador and the North Phoenix Preparatory Academy Gladiators will compete for holiday cheer at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams are coming into the matchup red-hot, with Maryvale Prep sitting on nine straight wins dating back to last season and North Phoenix Preparatory Academy on four.
On Tuesday, Maryvale Prep took their game with ease, bagging a 39-11 victory over Bagdad. The Matador have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven contests by 21 points or more this season.

Maryvale Prep had a senior duo take command as Alanah Arriaga went 12 of 23 en route to 24 points and five rebounds and Amaya Myers dropped a double-double on 11 points and 11 boards. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Arriaga has scored all season.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask North Phoenix Preparatory Academy). They strolled past Desert Heights Prep with points to spare on Friday, taking the game 36-20.
North Phoenix Preparatory Academy found their leader in sophomore Alexandra Price, who posted eight points along with 11 rebounds and five blocks. With that strong performance, Price is now averaging an impressive 2.2 blocks per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Jackie Medina, who put up five points in addition to six boards and three steals.
North Phoenix Preparatory Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 14 offensive rebounds in five consecutive matches.
Maryvale Prep's win was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 8-0. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 29.2 points. As for North Phoenix Preparatory Academy, their victory bumped their record up to 4-2.
Maryvale Prep was able to grind out a solid win over North Phoenix Preparatory Academy in their previous meeting back in January, winning 34-24.
