The Johnson Atomsmashers lost against the South Effingham Mustangs back in November of 2015, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. Johnson fell 57-47 to South Effingham. Johnson has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
South Effingham's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Tyra Guyton, who scored 17 points along with seven rebounds and three steals. Those 17 points set a new season-high mark for Guyton. Kailyn Chapman was another key contributor, scoring 17 points along with five assists and three steals.
Johnson has not been sharp recently, as they've lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-3 record this season. As for South Effingham, their victory ended a four-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 3-6.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Johnson won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against St. Vincent's at 6:00 p.m. on December 13th. St. Vincent's will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Georgia Rankings (they are ranked 436th, while Johnson is ranked 196th). As for South Effingham, they will head out on the road to face off against Camden County at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Camden County is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt want to keep things rolling.
