The South Pasadena Tigers had already won six in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 24.7 points), and they went ahead and made it seven on Friday. They walked away with a 76-65 win over San Marino. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead South Pasadena to victory, but perhaps none more so than Derek Peterson, who scored 18 points along with five rebounds and three steals. Peterson hasn't dropped below 15points for three straight games. Another player making a difference was Russell Williams, who scored 16 points along with six rebounds and two steals.
South Pasadena pushed their record up to 16-5 with that victory, which was their third straight on the road. As for San Marino, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 19-5.
South Pasadena won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Arcadia at 8:30 p.m. on January 20th. As for San Marino, they will be playing at home against Monrovia at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Monrovia will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps California Rankings (they are ranked 893rd, while San Marino is ranked 131st).
