Westview has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. The Westview Warriors and the Angola Hornets will face off at 7:30 p.m. on January 16th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Westview will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Indiana Rankings (they are ranked 325th, while Angola is ranked 133rd).
Last Thursday, Westview was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 40-34 to Garrett.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Bre Cory, who scored 11 points along with two blocks. That's the first time this season that she posted two or more blocks. Another player making a difference was Olivia Bontrager, who scored eight points along with two steals.
Meanwhile, Angola unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Thursday. They fell just short of Eastside by a score of 52-49. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat Angola has suffered yet this season.
Westview has not been sharp recently, as they've lost three of their last four contests, which is still a better percentage than their 4-15 record this season. As for Angola, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-8.
Westview couldn't quite finish off Angola in their previous meeting back in January of 2023 and fell 45-42. Can Westview avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
