The Sonora Wildcats came tearing into Tuesday's contest with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 18 points) and they left with even more momentum. They walked away with a 40-31 victory over Calaveras. That's another feather in the cap for Sonora, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Sonora's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Parker Moore, who dropped a double-double on ten points and ten rebounds. Riley Edwards was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with three steals.
When it comes to explaining why Calaveras lost, one person who can't be blamed is Ryan Mcdaniel. Despite the final result, he scored eight points. Another player making a difference was Corbin Curran, who scored eight points along with six rebounds.
Sonora pushed their record up to 12-10 with that win, which was their 17th straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.4 points per game. As for Calaveras, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 9-12.
Sonora will head out on the road to square off against Summerville at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. As for Calaveras, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Bret Harte at 7:15 p.m. on Friday.
