It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact the Thomas Heyward Academy Rebels can now relate to. They received a tough blow on Friday as they fell 35-19 to Lee Academy. Thomas Heyward Academy lost against Lee Academy in their previous head to head back in November of 2022, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 28-0 score last time.
Despite the loss, Thomas Heyward Academy saw an underclassman step up: Tony O'banner rushed for 243 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 11.0 yards per carry, and also threw for 93 yards and a touchdown. O'banner is on a roll when it comes to rushing yards, as he's now rushed for 100 or more in the last 11 games he's played.
Thomas Heyward Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 7-5. As for Lee Academy, the win (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 10-2.
Thomas Heyward Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Lee Academy will take on Patrick Henry Academy at 7:30 p.m. on November 18th. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in South Carolina (Patrick Henry Academy is ranked 161st, while Lee Academy is ranked 160th).
