Basketball Recap: Saginaw Snaps Four-Game Streak of Losses at Home

Saginaw posted their biggest victory since November 25, 2024 on Tuesday. They blew past the Azle Hornets 69-44. The Rough Riders pushed the score to 52-21 by the end of the third, a deficit the Hornets cut but never quite recovered from.

Saginaw's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Trystan Overman, who went 5 for 8 en route to 10 points and eight rebounds. Overman is on a roll when it comes to boards, as he's now pulled down eight or more in the last six games he's played. Eugene Roseberry was another key player, dropping a double-double on ten points and ten rebounds.

Saginaw was working as a unit and finished the game with 15 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in December of 2024.

Despite the defeat, Azle had strong showings from Britt Haas, who went 5 of 11 on his way to 14 points and six assists, and Bryce Robinson, who posted ten points in addition to five boards and three steals. That's the most assists Haas has posted since back in December of 2024. Another player making a difference was Jayden Taylor, who scored six points and five rebounds.

Saginaw's win ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 10-18. As for Azle, they are on an eight-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 10-20.

Saginaw has already played their next game, a 48-41 loss against Brewer on the 24th. As for Azle, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 57-56 defeat against Granbury on the 24th.
