Softball Recap: North Sevier Turns Things Around After Road Loss

There's no place like home for North Sevier, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Monday. They put the hurt on the Piute Thunderbirds with a sharp 17-2 victory on Friday. The Wolves might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine matchups by 11 runs or more this season.

Chloe Malmgren made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run but no hits. Malmgren was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with three RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Avery Taylor, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, two stolen bases, and three runs. Dally Wasden was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.

North Sevier was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .417. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Piute only posted a batting average of .000.

North Sevier moved to 10-12 with that win, which also ended their three-game losing streak. As for Piute, their defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 7-9.

North Sevier has already played their next game, a 12-11 loss against Timpview on the 28th. As for Piute, they will host Milford at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Thunderbirds' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Tigers have averaged an impressive 12.5 runs per game this season.
