After flying high against the Littleton Lions last Friday, The Skyview Wolverines came back down to earth. Skyview fell just short of Wheat Ridge by a score of 28-25. Skyview was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Wheat Ridge apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in October of 2022.
Skyview's loss on Friday came despite strong showings from Che Brown and Bryson Gutierrez. Brownpicked up 152 receiving yards and two touchdowns, while Gutierrezthrew for 271 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 11.3 yards per attempt.
Wheat Ridge got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Isaac Mccune out in front who threw for 202 yards and three touchdowns. Another player making a difference was Bennett Wilkes, who gained 165 total yards and two touchdowns.
Skyview's loss on Friday dropped their record down to 5-2. As for Wheat Ridge, their win on Friday bumped their record up to 2-5.
Skyview will head out on the road to face off against Evergreen at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Wheat Ridge, they will look to defend their home field on Thursday against Green Mountain at 6:00 p.m. One thing working in Green Mountain's favor is that they have now posted big point totals in their last five matches.
