The Wheat Ridge Farmers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their third straight loss. They lost to Pomona on the road by a decisive 43-29 margin. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Wheat Ridge in their matchups with Pomona: they've now lost five in a row.
It was another big night for Kendra Ritzmann, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 11 rebounds for Pomona. Ritzmann hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for nine straight games. Another player making a difference was Aaliyah Valenzuela, who scored seven points along with seven blocks.
Wheat Ridge's defeat dropped their record down to 6-5. As for Pomona, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 7-5 record this season.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Wheat Ridge will take on D'Evelyn at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. D'Evelyn has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 176 points over their last three matchups. As for Pomona, they will be playing at home against Alameda at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Alameda will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Colorado Rankings (they are ranked 313th, while Pomona is ranked 139th).
