Baseball Recap: Monroe Central Has No Trouble Against Blackford

Monroe Central got themselves on the board against Blackford on Friday, but Blackford never followed suit. They were the clear victors by a 10-0 margin over the Bruins. The result was nothing new for the Golden Bears, who have now won nine matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

Carter Duncan made a splash while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over five innings pitched. He also tossed a walk, which is notable because Monroe Central is 2-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 9-12 otherwise. Duncan was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two runs and one double.

In other batting news, Monroe Central let Caleb Luedike and Isaac Middleton run wild. Luedike went a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, three doubles, and two RBI, while Middleton went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. That's the most runs Middleton has posted over his last 12 contests. Kyler Bogue also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.

Monroe Central hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They are 2-1 when they post two or more strikeouts.

Monroe Central's victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 11-13. As for Blackford, they have been struggling recently as they've lost eight of their last nine games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-14 record this season.

Monroe Central wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next matchup, an 18-13 win against South Adams on the 19th. As for Blackford, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 12-9 loss against Adams Central on the 22nd.
