There wasn't a ton of movement in the power rankings this week, but there was certainly enough to keep things interesting. A special shoutout goes to Owensboro's senior Will Warren, who scored five total touchdowns in the team's most recent match.
Can't Touch This
Owensboro got a 40 - 0 win over Apollo last week, and a key reason for the win was senior Will Warren. Warren threw for 373 yards and five touchdowns. That performance landed Warren among the top power-ranked players for the week.
Movin on Up
South Oldham was the better team in every quarter against Bullitt Central last week and consequently the better team overall. Everything went South Oldham's way against Bullitt Central as it secured a 70 - 14 win. South Oldham's margin of victory (56 points) marked the biggest win the team has had all season. The team's efforts were enough to boost its power ranking by seven, which was the most sizeable gain made by any team in the rankings.
Can't Stop Won't Stop
It was another game, another high-octane performance for Ashland Blazer last week (their 3rd in a row). It took its contest against Greenup County by a conclusive 46 - 21 score. Ashland Blazer did have the odds in its favor, but the team did even better than the MaxPreps state rankings indicated. With ten consecutive wins, Ashland Blazer boasts the longest winning streak of any team in the rankings.
Next Week's Big Game
If you are itching to watch a first-rate contest, no game is supposed to fit the bill better than the one between Henry Clay (19th in the power rankings) and Frederick Douglass (2nd). This will be the second home game in a row for Henry Clay. Only one team will win this week, so we'll see which team fails to repeat its success.
