Astoria/VIT was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their 26th straight defeat dating back to last season. They took an 11-7 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Brown County Hornets. On the bright side, the seven- run performance marked the Rebels' highest-scoring contest to date.

Jonah Shaw made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored a run and stole two bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Westin Chenoweth also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Astoria/VIT's loss dropped their record down to 0-11. As for Brown County, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-5 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Astoria/VIT will challenge West Prairie at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Brown County, they will square off against North Greene at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Spartans have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 13.29 runs per game on average), something the Hornets will no doubt try to take advantage of.
