On Friday, The Spring-Ford Rams faced the Pope John Paul II in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Spring-Ford was just a hair shy of victory and fell 28-27 to Pope John Paul II. It was the first time this season that Spring-Ford let down their fans at home.
Spring-Ford's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performance. Perhaps the best among them was Matt Zollers, who threw for 218 yards and three touchdowns. The team also got some help courtesy of Mason Scott, who picked up 104 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Spring-Ford's defeat dropped their record down to 8-2. As for Pope John Paul II, the win for they keeps them at an undefeated 10-0.
Spring-Ford will be playing in front of their home fans against North Penn at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. North Penn will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Pennsylvania Rankings (they are ranked 94th, while Spring-Ford is ranked 21st). Pope John Paul II will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Bishop Shanahan at 7:00 p.m. on November 10th.
