The Staples Wreckers had already proven themselves in the regular season, and didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They slipped by Fairfield Prep 13-12 on Tuesday. The win was nothing new for Staples as they're now sitting on ten straight.
It was another big night for Caleb Smith, who rushed for 168 yards and two touchdowns. Smith hasn't dropped below two rushing touchdowns for four straight games.
Staples' victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-1. As for Fairfield Prep, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-7.
Staples will square off against Southington at 12:30 p.m. on Sunday. The pair have allowed few points on average, (Southington: 18.1, Staples: 12.8) so any points scored will be well earned. Fairfield Prep does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
