The Hampton Hawks's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their third straight loss. They were beaten by Cross County 54-24. While losing is never fun, Hampton can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 248th, while Cross County is ranked 61st).
Despite the loss, Hampton still got an impressive performance from Brayden Dose, who scored eight points along with six rebounds and two steals.
Cross County's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Langdon Arbuck, who scored ten points. Another player making a difference was Thatcher Hanson, who scored eight points along with four steals.
Hampton has not been sharp recently, as they've lost five of their last six contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-9 record this season. As for Cross County, the win (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 12-3.
Hampton will face off against Bruning-Davenport/Shickley at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday. As for Cross County, they will square off against High Plains at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. High Plains is looking to tack on another W to their three-game streak on the road.
