After two games on the road, Sayreville is heading back home. They will take on the Dunellen Destroyers at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Sayreville will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps New Jersey Rankings (they are ranked 379th, while Dunellen is ranked 144th).
Last Saturday, Sayreville ended up a good deal behind Wardlaw Hartridge and lost 45-28.
Meanwhile, Dunellen put the finishing touches on their ninth blowout victory of the season on Tuesday. They breezed by East Brunswick Vo-Tech on the road to the tune of 52-24. The win was just what Dunellen needed coming off of a 53-11 loss in their prior match.
Dunellen's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Emily Chalecki, who scored 13 points along with six rebounds and two steals, and Wendy Woll, who scored 18 points along with six steals and five rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Chalecki has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Brielle Villanueva-Jadotte, who scored three points along with 15 rebounds and two steals.
Sayreville's loss dropped their record down to 1-21. As for Dunellen, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a nice bump to their 16-6 record this season.
