The Mansfield Tigers will square off against the Hoxie Mustangs at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams are coming into the matchup red-hot, with Mansfield sitting on four straight wins and Hoxie on 11.
Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Mansfield walked away with it. They claimed a resounding 57-22 win over Centerpoint at home. Considering Mansfield has won eight games by more than 23 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Meanwhile, Hoxie put the finishing touches on their ninth blowout victory of the season on Friday. They took their game at home with ease, bagging a 41-6 victory over Melbourne. The contest was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 34-0.
Hoxie relied on the efforts of Camden Brooks, who rushed for 154 yards and a touchdown on only six carries, and Kayden Glenn, who threw for 264 yards and four touchdowns while completing 100% of his passes. Brooks was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 64 yards. Prechton Wilkerson did his part to keep the secondary busy, picking up 82 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Their wins bumped Mansfield to 9-2 and Hoxie to 11-0.
