If the Maconaquah Braves were riding high off their 58-22 takedown of the Eastern Comets on Saturday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Maconaquah fell 39-28 to Oak Hill on Tuesday. Maconaquah lost against Oak Hill in their previous head to head back in December of 2022, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 41-17 score last time.
Bailey Carson and Shaelyn Powell certainly did their best on Tuesday to try and avoid the loss. Carson scored 9 points, while Powell scored 4 points along with 5 rebounds. Carson scored a full 32.1% of Maconaquah's points, the second time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Oak Hill got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Liz Godfrey out in front who scored 13 points. Another player making a difference was Landri Hardman, who scored 5 points along with 7 rebounds.
Maconaquah's loss dropped their record down to 3-5. As for Oak Hill, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a nice bump to their 7-3 record this season.
Maconaquah will be playing at home against Tri-Central at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Tri-Central focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 27 on Saturday. As for Oak Hill, they will head out on the road to face off against Mississinewa at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday.
