The Eastern Mennonite Flames had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 16.8 points), and they went ahead and made it five on Tuesday. They enjoyed a cozy 68-50 victory over North Cross. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Eastern Mennonite also won the last time the pair played back in February of 2023.
Eastern Mennonite got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was William Gardner out in front who went 7 for 10 from beyond the arc en route to 25 points and 2 assists. Drew Hatter was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 13 points and 14 rebounds.
North Cross' loss came despite strong showings from Antonio Mack and Jesiah Hines. Mack scored 22 points, while Hines scored 16 points along with three steals. That was a full 44% of North Cross' points, marking the 12th time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaziel Hart, who scored four points along with five rebounds and three steals.
Eastern Mennonite's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 8-3. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 70.8 points per game. As for North Cross, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-6.
Eastern Mennonite will look to defend their home court on Thursday against New Covenant at 6:30 p.m. Hopefully New Covenant focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 14 last Friday. As for North Cross, they will head out on the road to square off against Virginia Episcopal School at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
