Notre Dame (SO) and Chaminade are an even 5-5 against one another since March of 2019, but likely not for long. The Knights will be playing in front of their home fans against the Eagles at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Notre Dame (SO) comes in on ten and Chaminade on five.
Notre Dame (SO) barely beat Louisville the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Knights put the hurt on the Royals with a sharp 13-3 victory on Tuesday. Considering the Knights have won 12 matches by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Aliyah Garcia made a splash while hitting and pitching. She struck out seven batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in six consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-5.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Nadia Ledon, who went 3-for-5 with one home run, two stolen bases, and three RBI. Another player making a difference was Molly Coppola, who went 1-for-2 with one home run and four RBI.
Notre Dame (SO) kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 20 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in ten consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Chaminade beat Harvard-Westlake 8-3 on Tuesday. That's two games straight that the Eagles have won by exactly five runs.
Like Notre Dame (SO), Chaminade also got a great game from a two-way player: Finley Suppan. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off four hits (and only one walk). Suppan was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one double.
In other batting news, Sydney Hogue was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run and three runs. Katherine Osborne was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two RBI.
Notre Dame (SO)'s win was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 14-3. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.4 runs over those games. As for Chaminade, their win bumped their record up to 13-8-1.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Tuesday. Notre Dame (SO) hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 1.5 home runs per game. However, it's not like Chaminade struggles in that department as they've been averaging 0.6 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Notre Dame (SO) skirted past Chaminade 2-1 in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Do the Knights have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Eagles turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
