Basketball Recap: Lovejoy Takes Loss Despite Strong Performances from Noah Banks and Malachi Ford

Lovejoy easily dispatched Academy for Classical Education last Saturday, but unfortunately both the margin and the ultimate result were a different story in this one. The Lovejoy Wildcats fell just short of the Morrow Mustangs by a score of 57-54 on Tuesday. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Wildcats this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 67-65 back in December of 2024.

Lovejoy's loss came despite strong showings from Malachi Ford and Noah Banks. Ford posted 11 points, while Banks had 16 points. Banks' evening made it four games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Caleb Carson, who earned six points and five rebounds.

Lovejoy moved to 9-6 with that loss, which also ended their four-game winning streak. As for Morrow, their victory bumped their record up to 4-10.

A feisty cat fight will be fought when the Lovejoy Wildcats challenge the Newnan Cougars at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Newnan will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something Lovejoy surely won't give up without a fight. As for Morrow, they will square off against Banneker at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.
