The Grand Saline Indians's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their ninth straight loss. They were beaten by Edgewood 66-18. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Grand Saline has scored all season.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Edgewood to victory, but perhaps none more so than Blair McPherson, who scored 23 points along with seven assists and seven rebounds. That makes it five consecutive games in which McPherson has scored at least a third of Edgewood's points. Kassidy Paul was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 17 points and 11 rebounds.
Grand Saline has traveled a rocky road recently having lost ten of their last 11 matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 16-13 record this season. As for Edgewood, the victory was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 24-8.
Grand Saline will head out on the road to square off against the Patriots at 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Prairiland is on a five-game streak of home losses, the Indians a five-game streak of away losses, but someone's luck is about to change. Edgewood will take on the Wildcats at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Rains is coming into the match hot, having won their last 18 games.
