After flying high against the Weskan Coyotes back in December of 2023, the Rolla Pirates came back down to earth. Rolla received a tough blow on Tuesday as they fell 55-39 to South Baca [Campo/Vilas/Pritchett]. While losing is never fun, Rolla can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 316th in Kansas, while South Baca [Campo/Vilas/Pritchett] is ranked 146th in Colorado).
Despite the loss, Rolla still got an impressive performance from Elena Reza, who scored 30 points along with six rebounds and two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Reza has scored all season.
Rolla's loss was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 2-6. As for South Baca [Campo/Vilas/Pritchett], the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 7-2.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Rolla will take on Yarbrough at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Yarbrough and Rolla are at an even 5-5 over their past ten head-to-heads. As for South Baca [Campo/Vilas/Pritchett], they will head out on the road to square off against Granada at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday.
